Colossi of Memnon
Facing the Nile (facing east) are the Colossi of Memnon, two massive stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III and his wife Tiy – guarding his mortuary (long gone due to repeated flooding). This is close to Luxor, Egypt.
